Deborah Ange: Repeating a very old mistake

I remember the shock I felt when I learned in history class that the U.S. had turned away a ship full of Jewish children who had been sent from Europe for their safety before World War II. I am shocked and embarrassed that this rich nation is again sending children back into danger. This is not the humane, civilized thing to do, and not the way we would wish our children to be treated in similar circumstances.
