The fact that about 100,000 people applied to a Dutch company to be part of a one-way trip to to Mars leaves me mind-boggled. It begs the question: Do they know what they are doing? Due to problems with radiation, it is a one-way trip, meaning they cannot come back to Earth. The trip would take around eight months in a crammed, noisy space vehicle. Leaving behind family and friends, not knowing what to expect. It leaves one feeling clueless as to why one would apply for such an experience.
