So, George Lucas is going to establish a museum for his film works and art. A letter writer on June 22 (“Court Lucas and his museum project”) asked why not in Modesto?
The reason is fairly simple: The City Council has big-box business parks that may, or may not, create jobs on its mind.
The council is twisted by the chamber of commerce into believing jobs can be plucked through big-box businesses that swallow up farmland.
What they fail to understand is that those mega-centers produce traffic that kills roads and disrupts order. I would rather see something like a museum than any big box “industry.”

Editor’s note: Lucas announced Tuesday his museum will be built in Chicago.
