If the Koch brothers and the local fast food franchise owners have their way, unions will be abolished. Please try to understand that if you are not the owner or administrator of a business or institution, you benefit from the existence of unions whether or not you belong to one. As pointed out in letters to the editor Tuesday, if you don’t have a union, you don’t have “free speech.” If it were not for unions, you nonmembers would be working for slave wages at best. Because unions exist, your employer must compete with benefits and salary.
