Letters to the Editor

It's simple: Pay taxes, get a check

The letter "Poor people excluded from stimulus" (July 4) made me want to comment. This person writes that her daughter did not get a stimulus check because her earnings, as well as her earnings and those of her son, were not sufficient to qualify. I am sorry.

I work and did get one. Only because it was my money that was being paid back to me. My pay is taxed by the government all year. The $600 check I received does not even scratch the surface of what is taxed from me during the year. It is not an unfair system to the poor. The poor have their programs called "welfare." I am pretty sure that several people out there are benefiting from the taxes coming from my income.

By the way, my $600 went to gas and supplies to do my job.
