Regarding the letter "Obama no help in Benghazi" (Nov. 20): it strikes me that the writer only repeats the lies, distortions and demonizations regarding the president that were so distasteful to a majority of the voting public that they returned him to office. Mindless, repetitive Obama bashing didn't turn out to be as popular as some expected.
I am sure it comforts the family of Osama bin Laden to know that the writer thinks "Obama will not fire on his own people, the Muslims." That statement is clearly not true. Obama's people are Americans, from Hawaii to the Atlantic. His administration has aggressively pursued and killed Islamic terrorists who threaten America and Americans.
We don't know exactly what happened in Benghazi. We don't know what direct role, if any, the president had in decisions made in real time. Ignorance of the facts should limit hysterical criticism, but in this case it hasn't.
Richard Nixon and George W. Bush are two presidents who didn't get my vote and never did much to impress me that I was wrong. But each was my president while in office, and both deserved the respect that goes with that office.
Obama is our president, yours and mine. He deserves the same respect.
