Letters to the Editor

Burglar stole much more than objects

It may seem like an easy thing to raid an uninhabited house to acquire objects you can sell for money you think you need.

But in addition to material objects, do you realize you take many things that are valuable only to those who held them as memorials of their parents and grandparents: Letters, quilts, handmade items, objects that were given by loved ones, which can only be understood and treasured by the people to whom they belong.

You may have tossed these items away, but you have selfishly deprived their owners of significant happy memories, many of which would have been passed on to future generations.

If you read this, you should be ashamed for what you took and how little you really gained.

One of your victims,

ARLEEN WARN
