Celebrate safely and sanely

As another Independence Day has come and gone, I find myself, with growing bewilderment, reflecting on the use of fireworks in my neighborhood, and many neighborhoods, I would suspect.

It seems that for every family using "safe and sane" fireworks, there are two more using unsafe and insane fireworks, until all hours of the night. It seems so many people, under the guise of celebrating the wonderful freedoms our country affords, have forgotten that we are never free from the responsibility to follow the law.

If this applies to you, consider, when putting all your neighbors and their property in danger, your actions do not prove you more patriotic than others, but less patriotic than your country needs you to be.
