In response to "Deadly Force" (Oct. 3, Page A-1): I see lots of comments about peace officers' shootings. Just when did peace officers lose the right to protect themselves? When did they get less rights than the people that they protect? They did not! They act with the information available at the time. If they wait, they might die.
It's nice to Monday morning quarterback these events. Peace officers do not have this opportunity. They have seconds to assess, decide and then act. Our family knew one of the persons killed this year. We mourn for the person killed and pray for the officer involved.
God bless the peace officers and protect them.
