Letters to the Editor

Penalize lawmakers, not employees

I agree with "Businesses couldn't get away with this" (July 30, Letters). It is the responsibility of lawmakers we send to Sacramento and Washington to represent the people, not a certain party, good or bad. If they can't come up with a budget by the deadline, then their salaries and benefits should stop, with no back pay when they do reach an agreement.

Do not cut the salaries of the people who elected them in good faith. Maybe a petition by the people will wake them up.
