The Rev. Jeremiah Wright did not offer any new rhetoric in his speeches before the National Press Club and NAACP. Now, all of a sudden, Sen. Barack Obama is "outraged" that Wright would spew such divisive and destructive remarks. The senator claims this is not the Wright he has known for 20 years.
Where was the outrage six weeks ago in Philadelphia when the senator would not condemn the reverend? Where was the outrage when the videos of Wright's "sermons" hit the airwaves? Where was the outrage for 20 years the senator sat in the pews of Trinity United Church of Christ?
Obama is now offended and states that Wright's statements are a bunch of rants not grounded in truth. They are the same "rants" the reverend has delivered over the past several years.
Nice try, senator. However, it appears your sudden disgust is rooted in expediency.
