I fail to see the problem with Skywest discontinuing service from Modesto to Los Angeles. If the charge is $250 round trip, then one way would be at least $125. If you have a little patience, taxpayers will have a high-speed train, and the last estimated fare I saw was $40 one way. This in no way is going to offset the entire cost involved to ride this train, so that will be taxpayer subsidized. Being retired and on a fixed income, I suppose I should be more than happy to help business people travel to Los Angeles and back. The fact that I have a problem buying fuel for my vehicle shouldn't bother me when I can help so many others.
Editor's note: Plans for high-speed rail do not include stops in Stanislaus or San Joaquin counties.
