The person in a place to start a dialogue on race seems to think America, the dumb, doesn't have a clue about race or slavery. Let's go back to the dark continent and check out who captured the slaves brought here. If history is correct, it wasn't just whites, but also other Africans who captured and sold their captives to white slavers.
I have met a few descendants of the abused who have done very well and who are landowners, run businesses and own their own companies. I don't recall hearing them complain they never got a break. Mostly they just got an education (because they wanted it) and worked hard with no help from anybody.
Let's go a step further back and look at what happened to American Indians. They were run off their land. They were massacred. They were given a place to live and barely enough food to exist on. Key word here is given. Anytime you give someone something, it demeans the individual.
You ask for common ground. I am no theologian, but I believe the Bible is your common ground.
