Could someone please explain how road repairs are scheduled? Surely there must be more order to scheduling repairs than throwing darts at a map. As I type this e-mail, there is yet another road project under way on Orangeburg Avenue, this time between Tully Road and College Avenue. I drive through this area almost daily and cannot figure out what was so wrong with the road being "repaired." I can think of at least five other streets and intersections in Modesto that are in desperate need of repair -- especially the intersection of Briggsmore and McHenry avenues! This is one of the most traveled intersections in the city and until some recent "Band-Aid" repairs, it felt as if you were driving offroad. Scheduling sections of roads to be resurfaced that clearly don't need it is the equivalent of stripping and repainting your car just because it was "scheduled." Check for the worst areas and start there!
Editor's note: McHenry Avenue is a state highway; the recent repairs there were done by Caltrans.
