With obesity at epidemic proportions in our community, I am surprised you would actually promote chicken-fried steak smothered in gravy ("Chicken-fried steak hits the spot," March 26, Page E-1), even including a color picture with the promise of a tasty recipe to follow.
How about just a bowl of lard and a spoon? Prep time: negligible; damage to one's health ... priceless. Teachers, newspapers, parents, all of us need to do more to educate the public about the benefits of healthy eating, along with exercise, and increase awareness of the billions of dollars spent treating obesity-related illness. "Finger-lickin' good" chicken-fried steak recipes smothered in gravy don't help.
