I received a big shiny mailer from Friends of Oak Valley Hospital, telling me why I should vote "yes" for another bond for the hospital. The six special assessments on my tax bill total $829.30. Oakdale Unified is making noise that it "needs" another bond; Oakdale Rural Fire District is crying the blues because it still doesn't have enough money; and now Oak Valley Hospital says it didn't get enough money last time, so they want more. Well, my source of money does not increase every time districts and government decide they need more.
Nowhere in the mailer does it state how much money they want, how much the proposed bond will increase my taxes or how long it will take to repay the bond.
If I use Oak Valley's services other than in an emergency, my insurance (for which I pay $800 a month) will not pay. This means that I have no access to a facility that I am still required to pay for.
I certainly will be voting "no" and encourage voters to defeat Measure O.
