As a resident of Modesto since 1939, I have observed its growth, improvement of services, and changes in general. I disagree with "Forbes Magazine disses Modesto again" (March 21, Page A-1). I have found that access to college facilities is adequate for those who wish to attend: state university, junior college, commercial colleges and vocational schools. Both private institutions and public institutions are available.
New shopping areas have increased the job opportunities. However, how many people still feel the necessity of traveling hours each day to have a job that provides an adequate salary?
The opening of the Gallo Center for the Arts has added tremendously to the availability of cultural enlightenment.
