Liberals are talking as if their worst nightmare is going to come true. They fear George Bush is going to run for a third term, and again beat the best they have to offer. When is the Democrat-led Congress going to come alive and tell us how they are going to disentangle our problems? Someone recently wrote that Social Security is in good order ("Social Security does its job well," March 3, Letters), but those of us who deal with Social Security know better. If Social Security is in good shape, why are benefits taxed and why is there a charge for Medicare? Wasn't one dip in our pockets enough to cover that?
To get a dose of reality, liberals should spend a day trying to communicate with this dysfunctional behemoth. They should listen to a machine answer questions it wasn't asked. And when that's all done, they can enjoy waiting days on a call-back list. Please, no more liberal hot air. We've had seven years of that twaddle. This is all about establishing a socialized medicine trust in order to grant members of Congress another deep-pockets source for their self-aggrandizement. Just come out and say it.
