Very eye-opening reading in that "Modesto makes top 10 ... for misery" (Feb. 2, Page B-1). I agree with Councilwoman Kristin Olsen and Joy Madison, president of the Modesto Chamber of Commerce, that such a list is subjective. As a small-business owner and citizen, I strive to be a better example for our community. I employ a few locals, shop from and dine with locally owned businesses, and I volunteer as much as I can for local charities near to my heart. I invite others to think about this article and ask, in the words of former President Kennedy, not what my community can do for me, but what I can do for my community?
