Build new animal shelter soon

Thomas Mayfield, the chairman of the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisiors, has said the board plans to build a new humane animal shelter. If so, when? A new humane animal shelter is long, long, long overdue. The county kills more than 12,000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens each year. The cages are old, obsolete, dirty, unhealthy and outdated. We need a new humane animal shelter. Other counties have far better facilities. Why do we lead the nation in all the wrong places? Tops in auto theft; worst animal shelter.
