Want police? Let your dogs out

Due to recent storms in Modesto, our back gate was not fully secure, and our two dogs got out one night. We were made aware of this by the three police officers sent to our house to notify us. Not one, not two, but three patrol cars.

Once we secured the dogs in the yard, we thought everything was fine. Two of the officers that were blocking our street stayed for more than 35 minutes with their lights flashing.

I felt that in light of recent letters in The Bee about lack of police response to burglaries and other crimes, it seemed like a waste of officer time and taxpayer money to have them stay that long after we put the dogs back.

My suggestion, fellow citizens, is that if you don't get a police response when your car is stolen or your house burglarized, just let your dogs out!
