I wholeheartedly support Measure M and am glad to see The Bee's editorial page support it, too ("Yes on M: A Charter for 2008, not 1962," Jan. 24, Page B-6). By voting "yes," we have an opportunity to inject some needed accountability into our city government.
I like that Measure M provides for performance reviews of top city workers. Performance reviews seem to make good sense. We should have had these types of reforms long ago.
I am especially supportive of the independent auditor reform included in Measure M. We need an independent auditor who is truly independent and accountable only to the taxpayers. I view this as one of the most critical accountability reforms in Measure M.
