Letters to the Editor

Mayor, council knew what they'd be paid

I agree with "Services, not council, need more money" (Jan. 23, Letters) in regard to Measure M. I remember when the council members and mayor were running. They said many times they wanted to serve Modesto. They were well aware of the compensation that they would receive if elected. Now if they are not happy to serve, I would like to remind them they have the freedom to resign.

Serving the city on the council or as mayor should never be about lining their pockets.
