Hunting article promotes death

Dismay, disbelief, disgust hovering on shock barely describes my reaction to The Bee's Jan. 13 article ("Call of the Wild," Page A-1), which promotes an assault against nature and further encourages a new generation to embrace a culture of violence and destruction. To stealthfully, purposefully destroy any form of life -- duck, dog or frog -- desensitizes conscience and responsibility. To quote the Dalai Lama, "Destruction of nature and natural resources results from ignorance, greed and lack of respect for the earth's living things."

God gave us the Earth and all living things to protect and cherish. To gleefully hunt an innocent bird is a short path to killing higher life forms -- deer, bear and human.
