Assume that police are helping

Regarding "5 motorcycle officers in park?" (Jan. 12, Letters): Did the writer ever stop to think that they were perhaps training? What better place to practice riding through narrow twisting lanes and paths in inclement weather? While doing so, they were providing an extra patrol service in an area that is known to generate a high volume of calls.

Perhaps instead of assuming that the police are there to harass people, you should assume they are there to help law-abiding citizens and take a moment to wave hello. You might be surprised at the positive response you receive.
