On Dec. 29, I saw an interesting sight while walking through East La Loma Park: five motorcycle police officers in single file cruising down the pedestrian-bicycle pathway.
I understand the need for this area to be patrolled occasionally, but five officers? That's a bit much. Maybe one on a bicycle would be more appropriate. Very few were even out that day as it was cold and drizzly. When I see things like this, I have a hard time believing our law enforcement resources are spread as thinly as we're led to believe.
I just wonder: Were these officers told by their superiors to make such an overbearing and obnoxious presence in an otherwise peaceful park setting, or did they take it upon themselves? Either way, it's a waste.
