Letters to the Editor

No merit, compassion in gripe

Regarding "Scenic Drive closure unnecessary" (Dec. 30, Letters): I'm appalled and surprised with the insensitivity of a person claiming to be a traffic engineer lacking the knowledge or understanding between a traffic accident and a crime scene.

I'm sorry he was inconvenienced with the untimely death of a mother of three children. The night of the accident, Dec. 15, I was attending our department's Christmas party, and I was told about the road closure and detours attendees took to attend the party. I knew it had to be really bad for the Modesto Police Department to close the roadway.

Every law enforcement agency wants to safely open any roadway as soon as possible. Noninjury accidents are handled completely different from an injury accident or fatal.

The reader's complaint lacks merit and compassion.
