Can you justify a state muscle car?

Regarding the carjacking in Richmond ("Police recover car stolen from state Senate leader," Dec. 31, Page A-6): As it is sad we have to lock our doors to drive around town, it is also sad that our government that is so far in debt can use a Dodge Charger as a government-issued vehicle.

I pay taxes and I cannot afford this nice car. Why does a government employee need to drive around in a Dodge Charger? Talk about a waste of taxpayers' money!
