Bee skips Humane Society event

Recently, the Humane Society of Stanislaus County invited The Bee to attend a very special event. Boy Scout Troop 9, under the guidance of Brandon Fox, an Eagle Scout candidate, joined HSSC members and prepared hundreds of prepackaged pet food meals for the pets of homebound seniors. These meals were delivered by the wonderful folks at Howard Training Center via their Senior Meals program.

Hundreds of pounds of donated food, thousands of bags and labels, and dozens of volunteers have helped provide a simple solution to a serious health issue. It is well-documented that seniors will feed their pets before they feed themselves.

It's a shame The Bee couldn't spare someone to take a picture. That same weekend, you ran a photo spread about a dog show.

Soon, we will be having our first spay-neuter clinic. We will provide low- or no-cost services for 100 cats. I hope The Bee will consider covering that event.
