I prefer illegal immigrants to thieves

I moved here from San Jose in 2005 thinking it would be a quiet place to raise my family. Since then we have been in a hit-and-run accident, our home was burglarized, our car was stolen, and property burned and vandalized (costing more than $14,000). On Oct. 7, I realized I should not trust being safe from crime anywhere. I left a diaper bag with my purse inside on the passenger's seat floor in my van while I was visiting the cemetery on Scenic Drive. I never do this, but I thought it was fine because I would be maybe 50 feet away, facing the van and at a cemetery. I was there about 10 minutes (with others) when I looked up saw a guy smashing my passenger-side window and pulling out the bag. He jumped in a Jeep with his accomplice and sped off.

Yes, anyone breaking the law is a criminal; but I would rather be surrounded by poor, hardworking illegal immigrants than disrespectful, heartless, careless, drug-addicted thieves and vandals that really hurt all of us. My condolences to the families of the victims of the speeding car thieves.
