'Vanaja' is a must-see film

The State Theatre can be depended upon to show unusual, often foreign films that have so much more to say than "Bang, bang, you're dead," and "let's see if we can top the last special effects."

"Vanaja" is a film that delights us with a colorful slice of life in the Indian countryside, yet hides not the injustice of an old, established social system. It also shows us what we may have not known before: the lyrical, delicate, sensuous communication of Indian dance.

The last showing is tonight at 7; be there to experience a gem of a film.
