Regarding "Family of 5 OK after fire" (Oct. 30, Page B-1): I wanted to thank you for publishing this story. Growing up in Los Angeles, stories like this of survival were rare. Also, I believe it shows that although there a lot of hardships and sorrow in society, there is a ray of hope. In today's society, younger generations take advantage of their parents' love.
This article helped me realize that single mothers have a difficult life and are never appreciated enough for their hard work. I applaud the mother for her determination, love, sacrifice and strength. Stories like this show that the whole world isn't completely corrupt and evil. It feels even better to know that there are everyday heroes that save lives out of love not just because it is their job or passion.
A mother's determination is truly a thing of beauty and could never be measured or thanked enough. I hope all people that read that article realize how much their mothers are really worth.
