Symphony's women dress too informally

Too bad most of the Modesto Symphony's female musicians lacked pride in their dress. It appeared as if they had dressed for rehearsal -- black boots, clogs, etc. Is this how they dress for a formal performance? It did not match their pride in presenting their music. Ninety-five percent of the male musicians dressed formally -- coat and tails, etc., as most symphony professionals are expected to dress. What gives? Is there a double standard? Or is it the female musicians' desire to "dress down" for us country hicks?
