Since you appear to have a large body of knowledge about the new Gallo Center for the Arts, perhaps you can answer a question: Why was it necessary to bring in a catering service from San Francisco to cater the grand opening? Were there no local businesses prepared to handle an event of this magnitude? If there was no one local business capable of doing the whole affair, perhaps the work could have been parceled out to more than one local catering service.
I noticed the wines were local (Gallo), but the rest of the affair appeared to have been prepared and produced elsewhere. Did the San Francisco company buy our local food products? Did the San Francisco company employ servers and cooks and other personnel from this area? Did the San Francisco company pay taxes to the city of Modesto on the income it earned in Modesto? Exactly how did the local region benefit from having a catering service from San Francisco at a grand event for Modesto and Stanislaus County?
