Get involved with kids' schooling

Much has been said about our failing schools and where the problems lie. Test scores, budgets, aging facilities, inadequate teachers and crime have all taken part of the blame. On back to school night, of the 2,600 students enrolled here, fewer than 100 parents have shown up. This is when parents should be coming to meet teachers, administrators and other staff, see what the facilities are like, see what challenges their children are facing. Becoming involved in your child's education is the best thing that can happen to a school and to education.
