Feathered friends are absent

Why are our birds disappearing? I have asked numerous friends and neighbors if they had noticed the sudden disappearance of birds in their neighborhood this year, and all agreed that they seem to have vanished.

Yes, I see an occasional blue jay and once this summer I saw a mocker. But the variety of birds that filled our back yard, ate from our feeder and nested in our trees, shrubs and hanging plants simply did not show up this year.

Even the crows that squawked in nearby trees and flew down to feed off the grain we threw out are gone. The common sparrow is gone.

I have never seen this happen before. Something is very wrong. We need to ask the proper authorities about this. Could it be the new pesticides, state authorized spraying, etc.? It would be devastating to lose our birds.
