Students forced to go hungry

My daughter started middle school and what a shock it was. She was quite excited that she had so many lunch choices. She wanted to try school lunch, so I gave her $3, enough to cover the $2.50 lunch. At the end of the line she gave the lunch lady her student number and $3. The lunch lady took her money, threw her lunch away and informed her when she left elementary school she owed $4.20 to food service. Therefore, she was going to apply the $3 to her bill and she would need to $1.20 to clear her account because they forbid credit. The girl in line with her owed $.36!

Our kids go hungry because the food service division of the Sylvan School District can't mail out statements to the parents.
