Letters to the Editor

Stanislaus has a good sheriff

The letter "Sheriffs should be hired, not elected" (Sept. 7) questions the integrity of elected sheriffs. The writer finds it hard to believe that a man can get elected and not owe the political favors that tend to be the norm in politics. The citizens of Stanislaus County should have no such concerns. Adam Christianson is a unique man in today's world. I am a retired sheriff's deputy. I know Adam as a Sheriff and as a decent man. What he truly wants is to be a cop and look out for his fellow county residents.

Years from now, when history is written, our sheriff will stand the test of time. There are many things to worry about in Stanislaus County. Your sheriff is not one of them.
