Regarding "Mercy wanted for imprisoned sergeant" (Aug. 27, Letters): There is too much interference from TV cameras, newsmen and onlookers with opinions on how to win a war.
Can you see President Truman (who dropped the A-bomb to save you and me) or President Roosevelt putting their men in jail for doing their duty? Keep Congress working back home on our home problems. (It is always different when your life is in the balance.) Where have I heard war is hell? Our young people would rather not be there.
Dear Mr. President, please pardon Sgt. Lawrence Hutchins III.
