Church dog park costly to water

In response to "Who's supposed to care for dog park?" (Aug. 31, Letters): This land is owned by Prescott Church. Since the city does not offer a much-needed community dog park, Prescott has allowed dog owners to use the field to exercise their dogs when it is not being used for other purposes. This is one of many ways we are trying to serve and connect with our neighbors.

Unfortunately, since the initiation of water metering for schools and churches, the high cost of keeping our fields green (more than $1,000 per month in hot months) has made it necessary for the church to temporarily discontinue field maintenance while we consider more financially viable options for keeping the field in ideal condition. We have continued, however, to allow use of the field as a service to our community. If you have further questions, feel free to call the church office at 529-7200.
