I have watched the Salida Now process mostly through the newspapers and have come to some conclusions. It appears The Bee has been inconsistent in its message to the public. Not long ago The Bee stated that if the Salida project's benefits outweigh the costs then it should be approved. From what I have read and discussed with neighbors, the benefits clearly win the day for the Salida project yet The Bee is now critical of the approval. It appears that many people are making judgments based on the Bee's inconsistent coverage. Maybe we should let the supervisors do the job that we elected them to do.
Editor's note: The Bee has not taken a position on the merits of the Salida proposal, criticizing only the manner in which it was approved. The initiative sought to put the proposal on the ballot in November; instead, Supervisors approved it as presented.
