"Emergency sirens constitute dog abuse" (Aug. 7, Letters) is probably one of the dumbest things I've ever read! Does the writer realize that ambulances and fire trucks are on their way to help someone, and the sirens are to tell drivers to get out of the way so they can get there fast and save a life or someone's home? They can't just stick their heads out the windows and yell "Pull over!" Sirens are not going 24-7, so the next time you hear one, think "Someone needs help!"
