Don't forget to maintain old city

I want to thank all the Modesto Public Works Department workers and office personnel who handled my request to fix a large pothole on Palm Avenue in front of the home of my daughter. The request was handled efficiently and expeditiously, and now an unsightly and dangerous condition has been taken care of.

This was a long time in coming. Palm Avenue is a street lost in time; a street in the middle of town where most homes are without sidewalks and gutters. This creates a bad look and feel in that part of our city. Maybe the mayor or one of the council members could take this on as a campaign issue. I suggest as a slogan: Let's not be building a new city while forgetting to maintain and repair the old.
