Plane dumped fuel at very low altitude

In regards to the altitude of that jet airliner ("Farmer blames fuel dump for blight," Aug. 4, Page B-1), it was clearly about 1,500 feet, maximum — not 15,000. I was northbound on Santa Fe Avenue near Hatch Road when I noticed it; it was southbound and I knew the contrails off the wing tips were man-made because of the low altitude. I thought it was making an emergency landing at Modesto as the front gear was down; then it banked right and made a full turn and headed east along Yosemite Boulevard before I lost sight of it.
