The writer of "Police always tell us not to get involved" (Aug. 2, Letters) took offense at an officer's rebuke when he assisted in thwarting a "beer run" three years ago at an am-pm in Turlock. There is no "irony" here. The difference is risking injury (or worse) to prevent injury (or worse) to a police officer is not the same thing as risking injury (or worse) to prevent the theft of a six-pack of Bud.
