Alert to citizens of Turlock: The Turlock police department is in a catastrophic situation. For some time now, many valuable trained employees such as police officers and emergency dispatchers have been leaving and they continue to leave for up to 50 percent higher pay in nearby cities. We can’t attract new people due to the low pay. Despite the best efforts of our dedicated professionals, public safety in Turlock will continue to decline until pay competes with that of other cities.
We are so far behind other city’s salary compensation, that even a 15 percent raise would only match the lowest of the salaries in 10 comparative cities. We cannot afford to keep losing any more of these dedicated men and women who serve and protect us with expertise, training and sometimes even their lives.
Is public safety a priority in Turlock or not?
To Turlock’s elected leaders: It’s time to finally find the money to support and restore our police department. We can’t wait any longer.
