Re “Educator seeks end to campus violence” (Page A1, Feb. 16): The Bee ran this article on the very important efforts of AAUW with the Ending the Culture of Violence on School and College Campuses. I applaud this effort and would recommend the input of Mother Teresa on the issue of violence. From a 1994 address, Mother stated, “I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion because it is a war against the child.” She further stated “the mother who is thinking of abortion should be helped to love, that is, to give until it hurts her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of the child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts.”
We have taught our young generation that life is a matter of choice. Let’s teach them that life at all ages has a God-given dignity and endless value. This is the foundation that will lead to the end of violence.
