A man was killed in a fight that erupted Saturday over the purchasing of rabbits to celebrate Easter, Fresno police said.
The victim was identified as Javier Solano, police said in a news release.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the fight, a residence at 439 S. Backer Ave. in southeast Fresno. Two others were hospitalized with injuries: Benito Diaz, 26, and Jose Zarigoza, 34.
Diaz was suffering from extensive head trauma, police said.
“The initial fight was between the group of victims and a second group who arrived to purchase rabbits for Easter,” police wrote in a news release. “One of the suspects initially left but returned a short while later and began assaulting the victims with clubs.”
Police said two suspects were identified in the assault: Alfredo Montalvo Cuevas, 31, (also known as Alejo Perez or Alfredo Perez) and Jonadad DeJesus-Morales, 21, (also known as Jonathan).
“Both suspects are undocumented and are believed to have fled to Mexico,” police said.
