The Pitman High School Art Club, Associated Student Body and Passage to Pride ambassadors partnered Monday to hold a lunchtime event to raise awareness and battle bullying. The event, “Take a Stand and Lend a Hand to Stomp out Bullying” was designed to have students “focus on celebrating uniqueness and inclusion of all their peers,” said Terri Gianotti, an art teacher at the Turlock school. In a “stomping arena” in the quad, all students were encouraged to “stomp, pop and destroy balloons with negative words on the outside to reveal a positive message on the inside,” Gianotti said. The event included “Take a Stand and Lend a Hand” banners for students to leave colorful handprints and their names to show their support for the cause.
