The Dental Spa in Turlock again will offer its candy buy-back program this Halloween. Children are asked to donate excess candy collected during trick-or-treating.
Dr. Antoine Varani and his staff will collect candy in the week following Halloween to send to Operation Gratitude, which distributes care packages to active-duty members of the military. Participating children will receive $1 for every five pounds of candy they bring in. They will also receive a gift bag including a toothbrush, small toy and other goodies.
Varani and his staff have participated in Operation Gratitude’s candy program for five years. It not only gives troop members a morale boost, he said, but teaches children the value of giving.
“It means something special that these kids are giving away their own candy to make someone else happy,” Varani said in a news release. His office is at 527 E. Olive Ave.
